If you don’t feel comfortable joining a sport, don’t do it. Simple as that. Don’t feel pressured into doing something that you don’t want to do because of your family. It never works.
That being said, if you want pursue soccer but are worried about your fitness, definitely try and start running. Run everyday for at least a mile. This will get your fitness up and your body will get used to it. Once you start feeling more comfortable, push yourself to run two miles. During my offseason, I would usually never do any fitness but this offseason of soccer I had was different. Every day of the week (no weekends though) I would run two miles, and now that I started soccer this week, when we ran I was barely tired at all. It really does work, so definitely start with that!
